For a 3rd mate on the lowest paid ships in the worst unions you can get around 4-5K/month A 3rd mate on a very good ship can get around 18-20K/month.

2nd mate will make anywhere from 1-3K more per month.

C/M will make anywhere from 8K to 30K, these guys can be the highest paid people on the ship. Especially if you have to move cargo very often, you'll get no sleep but that is how it is.

    Captain will make 10-30K.

If you are starting out, you should be able to make 7-9K as 3rd mate per month before taxes. I know I did. If you could say what ship or company you are wanting to know more about I could say more specifically.

Ohh these are for commercial cargo ships. But cruise ships fall about the middle of these numbers. There is also plenty of officer positions aboard that you can get that are administrative.

Edit: Also you need to know that there is only 1 US flagged and crewed ship left in the American fleet and it is the Pride of Aloha or Hawaii, I can't remember. This is the only full sized cruise ship, they used to have 3 of them.
