Google AdSense Tips Using RSS Feeds and Blogs

November 15, 2009 by · Leave a Comment

If there is one thing certain about the internet and the technology that makes it possible, it is that it will continue to undergo rapid change for the foreseeable future. It is important, therefore, for anyone hoping to do business in this competitive environment to have the ability to rapidly adapt to, and profit from, the changes that are constantly taking place. One of the most significant additions to the internet in recent years has been the growing popularity of the web log, or blog, and these blogs, along with the increasingly popular RSS feeds, can be used to further enhance the profitability and exposure of your Google AdSense program.

RSS feeds have become increasingly popular in recent years, and they are being used in a wide variety of ways throughout the internet. RSS is an acronym, standing for Really Simple Syndication, and many website developers already include RSS feeds as part of their website content.

In its simplest terms, RSS is an XML document format which is used to organise and store news related content from a variety of different sources across the internet. The RSS feed allows this information to be presented in one easy to access source, sort of like a news crawler or newswire service. In fact many news items presented on popular news web sites may in fact have come from RSS feeds.

Google has established a program which is targeted directly at RSS. This program, known as AdSense for RSS, offers a number of excellent opportunities for those wishing to increase their revenue and establish additional revenue streams from the AdSense program. Of course it is important for anyone wishing to take part to note the specific policies pertaining to the program and to follow all established guidelines when participating.

Anyone who has been reading the technical or even the mainstream news has no doubt been struck by the amazing rise of the blog in recent years. Just a short time ago blogs were relatively unknown and quite obscure, but today these informative and entertaining online diaries can be found virtually everywhere, from the pages of multinational corporations to the pages maintained by high school and college students. Like RSS feeds, these blogs represent a new and interesting opportunity to profit from programs such as Google AdSense.

Blogs, of course, are a place for users to share stories, provide content and swap opinions. The availability of so much quality content makes blogs a perfect venue for generating AdSense revenue, and more and more website designers are looking at including blogs in their universe of revenue generating offerings.

This is because blogs come with a number of important built in advantages when compared to traditional websites, particularly when it comes to generating revenue through the Google AdSense program. One of the most important advantages is that blogs, by their very nature, are rich in content, and a great deal of that content is fresh, timely and original.

In addition, the content contained on the typical blog tends to be friendly in terms of both human visitors and search engines, making it easier to gather web traffic and repeat visitors at the same time. For this reason, blog sites may be approved more easily by Google than traditional sites.

Blog sites also tend to be more easily and more frequently indexed by search engines like Google, and this fast and frequent indexing can provide more highly targeted ads, resulting in still greater AdSense revenue. It is easy to see why so many AdSense professionals have been looking at the power of the blog in recent years.

Does it Matter Whether I Purchase a .com Extention for my Site?

October 18, 2009 by · 5 Comments

I’ve heard both sides of this debate from different marketers over the years, but predominately the answer most will give to that question is yes, it does make a difference. That for some reason, Google gives more “appreciation” to a .com or possibly a .org domain than to a .info (or even .net) domain.

The people that have told me this say that it is obvious to see this is true because when you look at the search results you get when you enter a phrase into a search engine, the page one sites are almost always going to be .com or .org.

Yes, this is usually accurate, but I have another side to that statement that you could think about when deciding which extension you choose to purchase.

There are thousands, hundreds of thousands more .com and .org sites on the Internet than there are .info. This fact on it’s own would explain why the search results generally have .com and .org domains in their page one listings. I am not saying that it is not a possibility that the search engines like .com or .org, I am just bringing up a point. That is that .com and .org domain extensions should be in the top of the search results most of the time, there are 10′s, even 100′s of thousands more websites with a .com or .org domain extension.

I myself have mostly .com domains. I like them because when people enter domain names into their address bar they tend to enter .com. So, by simply buying a .com you can make sure they go to your website. If the website you were looking for in a .com has a .info available and you purchase it, then when the person goes to type it into their address bar, it is likely that unless they were really attentive, they will be typing in .com. Therefore, instead of arriving at your website, they would go to someone else’s.

I do have a few .info extensions however and as far as a SEO stand point I have discovered that they rank in the search engines equally as well as a .com website. So, for search engine optimization reasons it doesn’t really seem to matter which extension you buy. The SEO techniques side comes down more to your keyword phrases and links than to the domain extension you choose.

Therefore, it comes down to what you prefer. Do you care ifthey unintentionally enter .com instead of .info (or even .net)? Your answer to this question will aid you in choosing which domain extension you purchase.

How To Do Great Keyword Research For Niche websites

October 4, 2009 by · 8 Comments

If you ever plan on doing niche marketing and and making money by targeting the right keywords, there are some very cool tricks that can turn you a great profit and return both on your investment and your time. There are two great ways for making money with small niche sites.

The first one would be to dig up some longer keywords that have barely any serious competition in the search engines, preferably below fifty thousand results, and have at least a thousand searches per month. You can easily find this out by using the Google Keyword Tool and then doing a simple google search by entering the keywords that you have found.

Your site’s content can be optimized to rank well for these types of keywords. Creating an adsense site or getting some affiliate products to sell could be a good way to go.

The other way to go would be to find keywords related to specific products. You will have to find and go through various affiliate networks and find products that have a good compensation plan and are of high quality. Make a list of keywords that consist solely out of names of the products, enter this list and see which products have at least a hundred searches per month. Google these keywords and see how big is the competition.

Sometimes you can find a lot of product names that have less than ten thousands search results. By making a product review site, you can capitalize on those people who are already interested in buying, but haven’t made up their mind yet.

For example, if you were doing a product review site about eazol, you would target any keywords that have a decent amount of searches and mention eazol. Eazol pain relief, eazol pain relief formula and eazol review just some of the examples.

These are very profitable methods of keyword research and niche marketing and can be used to make a steady income with a day’s work.

September 29, 2009 by · 11 Comments

SEO Expert Edinburgh: This post talks about the potential benefits available to Edinburgh companies who are considering partnering with a SEO Expert to help raise online brand or product awareness, increase leads, sales or opt-ins and maintain a profitable Web presence.

Let’s face it, gaining top search engine rankings takes time, knowledge and a lot of hard work. There is a ton of stuff to think about – keeping content fresh, keyword research, competitor analysis, web analytics… it’s a lot, especially if you’re trying to run a business at the same time.

DIY or Outsource To an Established SEO Expert

There is a steep learning curve just to gain an understanding of the basic principles of online marketing or prerequisite technologies like PHP, SQL and CSS. That said, search engine optimisation isn’t rocket science nor is it the black art as often described. If you want to invest some time and learn SEO, it’s truly a great investment in yourself and your business that will go a long way to future proofing your business and continue to deliver return after return after return.

N.B. Search engines are moving targets that continually evolve in order to deliver the best results to their users. Therefore, learning SEO is an ongoing process and there is no guarantee that techniques used today will be effective in driving rankings or acceptable to search engines in the future.

If your SEO requirements are immediate and you don’t have the time or the disposition to learn SEO then you need to talk to an established Edinburgh SEO Expert. Before you start, be clear about one thing – there is no magic pill. Even though you might be buying into the experience and expertise of a seasoned SEO veteran, gaining significant market-share through Organic Search takes time and, more importantly, patience. In fact, if you are in a highly competitive market it could take the best part of a year before you realise worthwhile gains.

Why Does SEO take so long?

SEO is about improving organic search engine rankings by adapting ‘on page’ elements such as meta tags, page title, headlines etc. and focusing the page content so that it becomes relevant for the terms that the page targets. The terms that each page focuses on are based on intelligence gained from ongoing keyword research, server log analysis, and web analytics.

Tasks like keyword research take time and updated pages need to be indexed by search engines. So, the time it takes to achieve top rankings is more dependent on the time it takes search engines to recognise the work of the SEO Expert than the time it takes to complete the work.

If your Edinburgh business has a website that depends on consumer traffic now is the time to talk to an Edinburgh SEO Expert.
